3 Tips To Better Your Local SEO

By | Local SEO, Marketing | No Comments

SEO is often times the hardest thing to master when it comes to your online marketing strategy. It has a lot of twists and turns and rules and regulations that have been set in place by search engine giants, such as Google. And unfortunately, mistakes can be costly as they can lead to penalties, fees, and even in severe cases the shutdown of your site. So, as you develop your SEO marketing strategy, you’ll want to make sure that you have the proper understanding of how works and the type that will best benefit you. For instance, often times local SEO is actually your best bet. However, it is probably one of the most underused types of SEO in the digital world. Maybe this is because it can be somewhat of a challenge to learn how to market locally online, however it doesn’t have to be impossible. In this article will give you 3 tips on how you can better implement a local SEO strategy.

Tip #1: Focus on Localized Content

Anyone who’s been in the marketing world long enough knows that content is key, especially, quality content. Without quality content you have nothing to provide your users, nor will you give Google a reason to rank you in the search engine. In fact, you’ve probably heard the phrase, “Content is King”. The reason behind this saying is because it’s one of the primary ways that Google decides whether or not you’re reliable online source. If Google decides that you have nothing to offer, it will drastically hurt your SEO rankings.

In addition, if you can provide not only quality content, but also content that is relevant to the user, you will be able to show the search engine giant that you are relevant. And therefore will get the better rankings. This is why when it comes to local marketing, you need to make sure that you’re incorporating local issues into your content. For instance, start a blog and write about things that are going around on around your town, and incorporate it into your business. By incorporating local content you will help your chances of Google ranking you higher in your particular niche. This is because since you have quality content to offer about your market and niche, Google find you a relevant and reliable source for that area.

Tip #2: Maps, Directories, & Citations

Another fantastic way to help your rankings locally is by making sure that your business is both present and optimized on Google maps. After all, if people don’t know where you are, how the world can expect them to get to you? In addition to this, a huge market is often left untapped through Google My Business. GMB is a free tool that allows you to gain more exposure and manage how your business appears in Google maps. And if you are a legit business, you can claim your listing this very day.

The other thing you want to think about is ranking well on other sites such as Yelp, Yahoo Business, Super Pages, Yellow Pages, etc. A lot of times people will pay attention to these directories when looking for specific a business, and especially when trying to get contact information. So, make sure that your information is up-to-date on these sites and is fully optimized for better rankings.

Tip #3: Local Link Building

Next to content, link building is perhaps the most important factor when it comes to SEO. However, just like with many other things in life, not all links are created equal. In order to rank well with Google you have to be able to provide quality and legitimate links to your site. This can be done through many ways, including local influencers linking to your content, posting how-to videos on YouTube (while using a title and meta-tag that incorporates your local niche), guest blogging, commenting on other blogs, back linking to your website, etc. You also want to get links from sites that you want be associated with. Just make sure that you never pay to play. When obtaining links, it must be done organically or you run the risk of being penalized from Google. So, the best way to get local links is by building relationships with other local businesses and influencers that can help boost your business and content.

Local SEO does not have to be difficult to master. It just takes time and a strategic plan to know exactly what you’re going to do with how you’re going to accomplish it. If you follow these tips, and put forth the effort your business deserves, you too can create a dynamite local SEO marketing plan for 2107.

Navigating The R’s (Reputation, Revenue, Rankings) of Local SEO

By | Local SEO, Marketing, SEO | No Comments

One of the most important things you can do in your marketing strategy is come up with a solid SEO strategy. Reason being, everything these days is done online. In fact, studies show that about 84% of consumers are now getting most of their information via a mobile device. This means, that when conducting a marketing plan, you need to be making sure that you are not only including SEO in the plan, but you’re making it your top priority. Having a fully optimized website is the absolute best way to gain rankings on search engines, such as Google. However, there is a lot of rules and regulations that go along with it, and it’s important to know what those are and how it operates.

This rings particularly true when you’re talking about local SEO. Local SEO tends to be one of the most ignored aspects of SEO in the digital world. Why this is, is not necessarily known. But, we would speculate that it’s because most companies don’t take the time to actually figure out what they can do with their SEO locally. In this article, we will explain to you some of the main components of local SEO and how you can navigate its 3 R’s to help you come up with a dynamic and effective SEO strategy.

First, we’ll start by establishing the 3 R’s of SEO: Reputation, Revenue, and Rankings. These 3 components are what you’ll want to focus on one walking through your local SEO strategy. So, let’s start with the first aspect of local SEO, which is guideline compliance. By guideline compliance we mean that you need to make sure you are adhering to all of Google’s rules and regulations. Essentially, this just means that you aren’t a spamming website. This protects your reputation, because it shows that you conduct yourself in aboveboard fashion. It protects your rankings, because you don’t incur any penalties. And it protects your revenue because your resources are not wasted on any faulty or shady practices.

The next aspects to local SEO is your website. You want to make sure that you have a fully optimized and functional website for your consumers. This means that you optimize your speed, fix any broken links, have quality content, develop a user-friendly website, etc. This protects your reputation as it delivers excellent customer service. It will protect your rankings in that any fees and penalties will not arise because you have excellent content and organic standing. And it protects your revenue in that you’re not losing conversions to unhappy users who had a negative experience.

Next, we’ll move on to reviews. Reviews are vital when it comes to ranking positively on Google. And if you’re shooting for a strong SEO local standing, you have to have good and positive reviews. This means that you give your users and consumers the absolute best experience possible. This not only pertains to your website, but it also pertains to your customer service, products or services, efficiency within your company, and how well you respond to your reviews. This will protect reputation in that your customers will come in with a sense of trust from current or previous customers that have given you a positive review. It also gives you a leg up for developing a sense of brand loyalty. It protects your rankings by surpassing competitors was a higher percentage of positive reviews. And it protects revenue by gaining more conversions than you otherwise would have without your reviews.

The last aspect, but certainly not the least that we’ll discuss is social media. Social media is becoming one of the most vital and predominant methods of how we actually disperse our content, even on a local level. So, you need to make sure that you have a strong social media platform in place, whether that is Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat, etc. You also need to develop a strong following. This will protect your reputation in that you are both contributing and managing the online conversation of your brand. It protects your rankings because social media is now directly related to how Google will rank you within a search engine. And it provides revenue and in that neglected consumer sentiment will stray away from negative reviews or lost transactions.

Local SEO is a fantastic way to help build your brand and create awareness. You just need the proper tools in place in order to best develop a winning strategy. By following these examples, and understanding the importance of the 3R’s in local SEO you will be able to come up with a dynamic plan that will bring you success in 2017.

Optimizing for Local Search

By | Local SEO, SEO | No Comments

Local search isn’t what it used to be.  Google has been switching things up in the past couple of years, and when I say couple I really mean couple, as in two.  Nowadays, it’s all about the mobile search.  No longer do people need to run home to their desktops or, heaven forbid, visit the computers at the library when they want to search something on the internet.  They now have the option of turning to their smart phones, doing a little finger dance, and getting results instantly.

Since mobile searching has all but required that the rules for search optimization be rewritten, which they have, businesses need to make sure that they are keeping up with the times in order to maintain a healthy internet presence.  With a target audience of health care providers (from surgeons to chiropractors), who are notoriously on the move and overwhelmed to boot, Millennial Tech Services as  Indianapolis SEO provider has risen to the challenge.

What would a surgeon type in if they were looking for the business of Indianapolis SEO?  What would a dentist type in?  What would a family doctor type in?  These answers will provide the keywords necessary for successful local search optimization.  All of that is null and void if the page takes forever to load.  An uber busy healthcare practitioner wants results immediately (hence the use of the mobile device).  They’ll close the page after mere seconds if nothing is happening.  After that, the page has to be mobile-friendly or, once again, the user is going to shut it down and move on.  No one has the time or energy to be spending zooming in and out, for one.

A paid search would be highly recommended for companies looking for local SEO.  Who is the target audience?  Going back to the target audience of health care providers, this genre of professionals often pay to belong to private, specialized sites which maximize their own online experience.  Using a paid search platform requires a different strategy, with three main points to focus on:

Do your ads feel local?

electriciain-near-me-380x378If you want your business to show up as local, then make sure you include the location of your business in your ad, or a telephone number that can be clicked on at first glance.

Are you using mobile ad extensions?

electrician-near-me-2-380x184Location extensions are obvious when it comes to local searches, but sitelinks, call extensions, and click-to-call ads are all very useful and relevant. Sitelinks are good for high-lighting specifics, call extensions just plain old make sense when dealing with a mobile market, and click-to-call ads are especially relevant when it comes to healthcare providers.

Are you using promoted pins?

There is a growing need to partner directly with advertising and marketing campaigns now that Google Maps has updated it’s advertising. A solid logo and a customized results page will be tantamount.

In the end, the concept is simple: if you give your customer/consumer/patient/whomever what they are looking for, then you will get their business.  In this new, mobile world that is continuing to expand and evolve, successful optimization for local search is where it all starts.

Why Your Healthcare Business Needs Local SEO

By | Local SEO, SEO | No Comments

Local SEO is highly beneficial for all businesses, but especially businesses involved in the healthcare industry. This includes but is not limited to: doctors, surgeons, dentists, chiropractors and health clinic owners. Without the help of local SEO such as Indianapolis SEO, these type of businesses would suffer greatly and would probably loose a large number of their patients. This is true because most people use the internet to search for healthcare providers when they move to a new area or are on vacation and need immediate attention from a healthcare professional.

4-steps-to-local-seo_5348041bd4899_w450_h300Just imagine what would happen if we didn’t use local SEO and patients had to find a provider the old-fashion way? They would simply look for number to call or drive around their area until they found someone who could treat their problem. There would be no way for potential customers to research various businesses and find the best one. And as a result, there would be no way for healthcare facilities to reach more clients than their competitors and expand their customer base at rapid speeds.

We know how important it is for users to be able to find healthcare facilities near them based on the information provided by Google. Studies have shown that “near me” searches are steadily increasing each year and that about 80 percent of them are conducted on mobile devices. Additionally, over 80 percent of all medical “near me” searches are conducted on mobile devices. This means that users are not only conducting numerous “near me” searches for medical facilities but that the majority of them are conducted by users who are out and actively looking for a healthcare facility to meet their needs.

local-seo-search-volumeLocal SEO will help your medical business reach new clients by boosting your search rankings and increasing site traffic. By pushing your company to the top of Google rankings, you will be able to expand your customer base as more and more potential patients become aware of the excellent service you offer. Running a top level healthcare facility will only get you so far, you need to make people aware of your high level of expertise and care. I’d recommend hiring a reputable SEO company such as Indianapolis SEO to help you navigate the world of local SEO.

Marketing continues to get more and more troublesome as the competition for a wide variety of fields gets increasingly difficult. Nowadays, local businesses need a solid digital marketing plan as well as physical marketing strategies in order to keep up with their competitors.

The best marketing tool you have for both the digital world and physical one is your reputation. Having a good reputation in your area and field of work will help increase your client base through word of mouth. Referrals from satisfied customers are the easiest and least expensive way to advertise your business. Having a reputable business will also lead to positive reviews left by clients who were pleased with the work you provided. For example, if you own a bed and breakfast in Indianapolis and have the best reviews on TripAdvisor for bed and breakfasts in your area, then more people are going to be interested in staying with you. Having a large amount of good reviews on sites such as Google+, Facebook and Yelp will help your local business thrive and ultimately increase profits.

Of course, referrals and a good business reputation can only occur after you have a solid customer base. To attract more customers to your local business you need them to be familiar with your brand. This means, having multiple ads both online and in your local area that will make your brand recognizable and will help people remember your company whenever they are in search of the products or services you offer. Utilizing social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter is a great way to advertise your business to a specific audience as you can pick the location, age range, interests, etc. of the people you advertise to. Handing out business cards and flyers in your area will also help people become more aware of your brand and will attract more people to your storefront.

While digital marketing and physical marketing are both individually beneficial, practicing each type of marketing in conjunction with the other is the best way to familiarize people with your brand and attract more customers to your local business.

Google Local Business Cards and Their Effect on Your Business

By | Local SEO | No Comments

Google recently released a new feature called Google Local Business Cards. Basically, this feature allows local businesses to post content directly to the search results page in Google. When your business pops up on Google search pages your Google Local Business Cards will show up right under your website link, drawing the attention of potential customers. This is especially beneficial in the case of local business category queries, when a customer is searching for a general category but has not yet decided which business to purchase from.

For example, if a potential customer is looking for a photo booth rental service in the Indianapolis area, and they search for “photo booth rental Indianapolis”, a number of local businesses will pop up. However, the business with the content posted under their website link will draw the attention of clients away from other sites and toward the business that is utilizing Google Local Business Cards.

A side note: the content found under the site link is almost always content submitted by the business itself, and is most often drawn from social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter. This fact further emphasizes the importance of local businesses posting interesting and informative content on both their website and various other outlets. Additionally, if you area not already taking advantage of social media sites such as Facebook or SEO tools such as private blog networks, I highly recommend you start doing so as soon as possible.

So what does this new addition of Google Local Business Cards mean for local business SEO? Fortunately, as long as you or your digital marketing agency know how to create interesting content for you site, this feature should greatly boost website traffic. However, non-local business sites such as e-commerce sites and service area businesses will likely suffer as attention is drawn away from their links.

It is important to note that Google Local Business Cards are experimental and could be temporary but local businesses should still take full advantage of this new feature while they can.

WordPress Websites in Relation to Local SEO

By | Local SEO | No Comments

It’s fairly common knowledge that the majority of successful websites use WordPress as their platform. In fact, a recent study by reported that of the top million sites online, 50 percent of them used WordPress. When presented with this statistic, one might wonder why so many people are choosing WordPress for their site.

The most obvious reason we’ve found is how easy it is to use. Compared to other CMSs, WordPress is very straight-forward and simple, making it easy for novices to catch on quickly with little to no confusion. So then, is WordPress well suited for local businesses and their search engine optimization? And what should you do once you’ve installed your SEO plugin? We’ve answered these questions for you in the paragraphs below!

Here’s what to do once you have your SEO plugin installed:

You’ll first want to check the settings to make sure that all the basic information is correct including your site URLs. Unfortunately, if your site responds to a large variety of the same URL this can severely hurt your website’s SEO potential. Once you choose your site URL preferences, you must then make sure you set your preferred URL in your Google Search Console and then set your internal navigation to only link to that URL.

Once you have all of your settings taken care of, you must then shift your focus to the content of your site. Your main objective as a local business is to attract as many potential customers as possible from your area. To ensure the best possible results for your site, I recommend clearly linking your services and locations on your various webpages.

For example, if you are looking for a dry cleaning service near your home in Indianapolis, then obviously you want to find a dry cleaning service only in Indianapolis. The job of a webmaster is to make sure that Google is able to identify the relation between the service you offer and where you are located so that only local customers are being directed to your site.

I hope the two suggestions listed above will help you as you try to navigate SEO and your local business’ WordPress site!

How to Locate and Clean Duplicate Listings

By | Local SEO | No Comments

Locating duplicate listings can seem difficult if you’re not sure how to begin or where to look. In the article below we’ve provided the steps you need to take in order to find duplicate listings and how to clean them up!

Locate and Clean Duplicate Listings

For this list we’ll use a bakery in Indianapolis, IN as an example.

  1. Go to Google Map Maker and search for Indianapolis, IN.
  2. Enter the bakery’s phone number in the search bar. This will provide you with every business in the Indianapolis area with that specific phone number.
  3. Open each business’ website in a new tab and write down the URL’s with the corresponding business name as well as phone number, street address, suite #, city and ZIP code.
  4. Be sure to highlight any information that does not match up so that you are aware of it.
  5. Now you must find the “CID”. You can do this by selecting “View Page Source” then pressing CTRL+F and searching for “CID”. You should find a long number. Replace the number we’ve bolded in the following url with the number you find: Record that as your maps url.
  6. To find out if there are any duplicates go to and type in your information in the appropriate categories: “street number” “beginning of street name without prefixes” “city name” “contact” inurl:about Also, be sure to include &filter=0 to ensure nothing is filtered out.

Using the steps provided above you should be able to successfully locate any duplicate listings. Once you are aware of the duplicate listings you must begin to clean up your listings. To do this you need to make sure that all of your information is consistent and your business name doesn’t contain any keyword stuffing. Also, check to see that you are not overlapping any categories or including categories that shouldn’t be included.

You must also look through the various listings and decide which ones you want to have indexed high on the Google rankings. The best listings should have the strongest url included in them so that they rank the highest on Google.

I hope that the information we’ve provided you with above will help you better locate any duplicate listings and ultimately help you improve your website’s SEO!
